Good soul food plain and simple. Definitely a good place to get that Southern style soul food, it’s always made to order, fresh, and they give you great portions. Nice little soul food spot in Hartford Connecticut. My go to orders are the greens, Mac and cheese, ribs, fried fish, and especially the fried chicken. Definitely worth the money.

Well I had posted a review way back in 2012 the food was amazing. But not today the pork chops are paper thin I don't know what happened to the Mac and cheese 🤢🤢 not good the cabbage no flavor the strawberry shortcake was good but a bit dry over all two stars ⭐⭐

You cannot always trust restaurants that don't offer dining in to offer good food.
Collard were bitter, mac n cheese was mush, potatoe salad bland and nothing was seasoned not even salt.
I had not expected much and had not been here in years since the first fail.
The fish was well fried but did not taste fresh.
My meal was fit only for the garbage and a waste of money.

I’ve been searching for my soul food spot, Hot Pots is the best I’ve seen. I am crazy about the bbq ribs I’ve tried the ribs, oxtail, fried pork chops, jerk salmon. The ribs are my favorite by far, tender grilled ribs with a sweet and Smokey bbq sauce. I am getting ready to go as I’m writing this review can’t wait till they open. I love the greens, the Mac n cheese and the yellow rice

Every time I'm in Hartford (live in Boston)I stop here and get some food. Chef gabe us sweet potato pie samples, it was great for dessert cause you know we bought it, it was delicious and soulful for sure. I love this place, good food takes time so relax and be patient and happy when you eat!

I went to order chicken wings yams and macaroni on a Sunday they sold me days old dried out (days old)chicken wings The candy yams was also days old and dried out, When I called to complain the lady over the phone got an attitude and lied and told me “the food was cooked today” I’ve eaten there numerous times they have never sold me old food before but today it tasted horrible the macaroni and cheese didn’t taste like it usually does. You can tell that they intentionally sold me old food because she quickly offered me to return it to the store so they can change it, but they shouldn’t of sold it to someone in the first place you can get someone sick selling days old food. The service was terrible and the food quality was absolutely unacceptable so much so that I had to warn other people by leaving this review

Whitening Fish ( soggy no seasoning)
Yams (canned) no sugar
Mac and cheese( off brand cheese) also dry
Corn bread , no butter no sugar and mad hard and dry
Bbq chicken wings extra big and soggy not crispy and bbq sauce taste expired

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!

Placed an order for pickup (the wing dinner), got the confirmation that it was ready and went to pick it up. After waiting for one whole hour I was told that I would have to wait an additional 30-40 mins. I asked the man at the counter why my order wasn’t ready after an hour and he said they had other orders to fulfill. What he meant to say is that they prioritized the in store orders over the online orders and that’s why mine wasn’t ready. He said that if I didn’t want to wait I could cancel my order and that’s exactly what I did. The service and communication was terrible and I’d never order from them again.
