The Crown Market is easily my favorite kosher spot in West Hartford. In addition to plentiful on site parking, there’s tons of good eats, and even a schmooze section to enjoy their amazing food, and well, schmooze. If you’re feeling decadent, try their delicious treats, especially the chocolate chip cookie sandwich.

The only thing better is the people, like Mike, whom I had the pleasure of meeting. Mike was extremely courteous and helpful, and one of the key reasons that I look forward to my next visit.

For a number of years now I've been driving 90 minutes every 4-6 weeks to stock up on fresh and frozen poultry products at Crown. The business was apparently sold in the past year and the changes that have taken place have made it impossible for me to continue as a customer. Prices have climbed significantly and inventory is has become sparse. Today, Thursday -the day before Shabbat when one might expect the shelves of kosher supermarket to be well stocked I found the poultry cases mostly empty. 3 weeks ago I had a similar experience and found a manager to complain to. He advised me to avoid the problem by phoning in an order in advance of coming. I tried. This past Tuesday I placed an order with Crown customer service person for 25-30 lbs of cut up turkey. I was promised that I would get a confirmation phone call Wednesday morning from someone in the meat department. No call ever came. Desperate for a Shabbat entre I made the 90 drive hoping to find something. NOTHING in the fresh or frozen meat cases. Enough. I'll start driving to Albany and other kosher meat retailers near Boston.

Confusing Passover experience: 1 star
BOTTOM LINE: visit for the deli

We visited this grocery on Passover, after tasting some of their very delicious catering/deli at a conference in Hartford. I was SUPER EXCITED to sample some of their delicious kosher roast beef again, but when we got there, the deli wasn't slicing meat because of Passover? Even though they were open?
And while this was Passover, there were a LOT of not kosher-for-Passover items mixed in with the Passover items and I was very confused.
Prices were pretty good, though.
Bonus points for cool retro sign.

Market isn't very big or impressive, but the tuna salad from the deli is THE BEST. I've been eating it for over 20 years, and it's still THE BEST. When I am in Connecticut it's a must have. Market gets 2 stars, tuna salad gets 1 million.

Staff are always great, especially the butchers👍 the amount of choice of meats etc is great! I wish it was Cheaper than $100 for delivery 😀 to New Haven

Today Monday August 12, 2024, ( 8th of Av 5784) while waiting for the pizza that I ordered to be made I noticed that the shelves in the refrigerator section was sparce of items look like the first days of COVID when the shelves were nearly empty didn't like seeing this, a bit unnerving to say the least. Is the Crown Market going out of business?

After I got home with pizza and other purchases I discovered to my dismay that the sticker that was used on the pizza box didn't have a hechsher symbol on it like the Hartford Kashrut Commission (HKC) that is usually on the stickers that is placed on the pizza box like a seal. See below for attached picture.

Is the Crown Market still making kosher pizza (I hope) if not then why did it stopped.
As a healer this is very injurist, " this isn't about me it's about everybody as it affects everyone and as a healer I don't like it being done to anyone else either.

This grocery store is a gem hidden in West Hartford! Their prepared food is overall excellent! Last time I went, I had the Crown Poke Bowl from the sushi bar and it was spectacular. Can’t wait to go back again. Recommend 100%
