I was fortunate to pick up one of the last Molteni Orange Road frames from Mike and absolutely love it. It is more comfortable and fits bigger tires than all of my previous road bikes and somehow is faster too. Riding that bike just makes me want to ride it more - it is an awesome frame.

Buying online from Mike was easy, his communication was great, and he laid out good options for fit and sizing. When it's time to replace my other bike I'll definitely be looking at Mike's other models.

Purchased a Monster Cross frame set from BMC ! Mike was extremely helpful. Sent me a couple of very detailed drawings to help me narrow down the size. Could not be happier with the bike !

Mike is an excellent mechanic, wheel builder and designer. He has creative solutions for most any "problem" you throw his way. He understands how important your bike is to you. Give him a heads up and he will get you back up and rolling very quickly. He's a real mensch!

Rolled into town with a broken spoke. The owner pulled the cassette off to see that the chain had gone between the cassette and hub, damaging the 9 spokes on that side. He replaced them all and got me back on the road in about an hour at a fair price. Thanks!

Over the years I've purchased many things from Black Mountain: a bike, wheels, a shirt, even a nice metal pint cup. All have been great. But I continue to utilize this shop because the owner, Mike, puts in the work. He doesn't take shortcuts and takes his work seriously. My bike is as important as my car and Mike feels that. The wheels he built for me ten years ago are just as solid and straight as the day I got them. This is bespoke craftsmanship. A diamond in the rough.

I went here after my DI2 battery ran out of charge 5 miles into a 90 mile ride. The owner, Mike, kindly allowed me to recharge my bike for the rest of an epic ride and wouldn't allow me to buy him lunch or a 6 pack. I bought some Clif Blocks (salted watermelon in stock here and awesome). I really appreciate his kindness and character. Prices are the same or less than any other bay area bike shop. No gouging here as alleged by another reviewer.

Mike is a great mechanic and fantastic wheel builder. As of today I now own 6 wheels that built for me. I highly recommend his wheels! (I also have one of his excellent Black Mountain Cycle frames)
