The first impression I have for this place is how well maintained the grounds. The solemn atmosphere is very present. We were treated with such kindness and respect. The Navy color guard was very precise and professional. It was very difficult to find words to describe the way they performed. I only wish I could have thanked them for their service. When they played taps I lost it. Knowing that they treat our hero’s with such kindness and respect is very special. It’s important to know that when a service member passes on or off the field of battle they will always be remembered. Thank you to all the great service members who helped make this day special. Your dedication is truly inspiring.

A beautifully cemetery that is very well taken care of. Very peaceful. Summer there are crepe myrtles blooming around the section where my parents are buried. I love the hearing the bell tower chimes. Very soothing.

My dad, a Korean War Veteran, was buried in March and Father Aloysius did the service. He was a very compassionate and kind priest. So glad he did the service. Made it easier on me knowing he truly cared.

Whereas, we had a wonderful priest for my father, when my mom was buried, it was the complete opposite! I don't know his name but this was a very cold priest. No condolences or sympathy offered to me what so ever!

My mother's ashes are buried in a temporary plastic box from funeral home (not an urn)(2001) and my VA Navy father's ashes are in an approved urn and buried per correct protocol. The roadways were full of large potholes ,some patched for many years. After car damage, I did not go back for a long time. Happy to see it has all been repaved with added curbs, the rebuilt ( many years ago)administration/
information building is better too. Years ago we were walking along the edge of the drive in church clothes to visit another nearby grave and were stopped by the VA police and told "this is not a walking path at a gym". I had since seen others walking around in gym attire and a person on a skate board years ago, until I stopped going to the government clown shows.
Best to drive and park as close to gravesite as possible. My father's funeral service there was very nice. Most of the time my parents headstone gets no flag or Christmas wreath like others. I stopped going to the clown shows via streets that were like a simulated moon surface. Still a turn-off. Now streets are fixed and the grounds have no grass and has fallen into a state of neglect disrespecting veterans.

I recently took possession of my Uncles flag that was delivered to the family as no one was able to attend his service when he was buried at Arlington long ago. He was 101st Airborne. Easy Company 501 PIR. KIA during the Battle of Carentan France June 13, 1944. The flag had never been folded into the triangle. Doug Maddox was very helpful in having one of the honor guard teams fold the flag for us and we are eternally grateful for his assistance.
