I have always wanted to try paddle boarding. My family (two teenage daughters and husband) and I went to Bethany Surf Shop outlet for a tour that taught us the basics and took us on a lovely tour of the Assawoman Canal. Our guide was amazing and patient and the staff couldn’t have been kinder. Such a wonderful experience. If you are even the tiniest bit curious visit this place. Five stars!!! ⭐️

Very cool store and wide arrange of products. Definitely the vibe of a small town surf shop. They have a creative logo and design their own product line. Wide arrange of colors and styles. They even sell name brand items as well. The surf boards, skim boards and boogie boards are a little pricey. Make sure you get a salesperson that knows their products; they sold my brother a skim board and that very same day it broke, when we brought it back they said my brother was too heavy for that size and style...but they were the ones that sold it to him and didn't tell him about the size and weight restrictions 🤦🏼‍♂️

Just had the best time shopping at Bethany surf shop! I needed help picking out a shirt for my mom and the manager Kim was so helpful in picking out one of their silkscreened shirts. I love that they’re all made in-house. I’ll be renting a body board from them this week and can’t wait to take it out! Thanks again to all the helpful staff.

Not much to chose from in different size and gender BSS gear in sweat pants, sweat shirts or tees.
We were greeted by 2 very young teenagers, no management or leader seemed to be around. At one point a group of 3-4 teenage kids came in and started rough housing, cussing, yelling, ect. There were 3 small groups of us in there and you could tell everyone felt uncomfortable. We left at that point so not sure what happened beyond that. Just wish places like this still had a family friendly vibe.

I was in town for a triathlon and was excited to visit this fairly famous shop. My daughter was also excited to see it first-hand and to perhaps get a souvenir or two.

However, upon entering, I felt like I had interrupted a teenage hangout. The young staff working there were blasting what sounded like punk music with very vulgar lyrics (I was with an 11 year old). I understand a shop wanting to be edgy, but there is a balance between edgy and customer service. At the end of the day, you do have to sell stuff.

While in the shop, we were one of only two couples present, yet no one gave us a second glance or offered a simple hello. We counted around five staff working. Nevertheless, we were interested in getting some shirts and sweaters and purchased some nice items. What really got to me was when the person behind the counter rang up the sale and handed us the receipt to sign. Without even looking at us, she just said "sign here”. I then offered a sarcastic "your welcome" and was met with a completely blank "I don't care" stare.

It was obvious they couldn't wait for us to leave so they could get back to their little party.

After leaving the shop and having another five minutes go by, I became more irritated. My wife and I both agreed that we had had such a strange experience. Talking to other shop owners in the area, it seemed that this wasn't the first time they had heard such a story. The reason we mentioned it to other shop owners was that every other place we went, we were met with such kind people and generous service.

It got to the point where my wife and I decided to give away all of our purchases from the shop to a clothes donation container, since we in no way wanted to promote them.

Perhaps it was just an off day and the owner could only get temporary people to cover. Or, perhaps those young workers were the owners. I really don't know, but I would think it's better to be a friendly shop and sell stuff rather than give the impression you don't want people coming in.

My 12 yr old son had a fantastic surf lesson with Bodhi from the surf shop. Bodhi tuned right into my son’s strengths and was able to focus on the best tips to highlight. My son came away from the lesson confident to try surfing on his own for the first time all because of Bodhi’s lessons. Really grateful for the balance between supporting my son in the moment and promoting his independence in the sport. Bodhi was also super communicative in advance and followed up before and after the lesson. Thanks!!!
