One of the best book stores I've been to! If you enjoy finding delightful & strange books, shop here! The employees/owners are very helpful & fair with pricing. They also have a wide selection of books to choose from, which surprised me, since it's a small shop.

I've been shopping at this bookshop for many years. They always have unique books, sculptures, printed artworks and other collectibles that I may give as gifts. They are very knowledgeable about many genres of books. I enjoy visiting and talking about books with the friendly staff.

Visited this bookstore there was no one else in the store. We made eye contact and said a friendly hello and no response. This was after we came in the door and two people working there looked our way and looked away. Not welcoming at all. I hate to mention this but was left to wonder if this is how they treat BIPOC at this establishment.

Bonnie , the proprietor, has more plusses than strikes here. (I speak as one well versed in used book buyers' moral temperature.) 1. She's a delight to follow her to any work you enquire of , she knows her shop. 2. Her selection far surpasses the most noteworthy of shops with out of print authenticities (a new English word) dripping with wowness. 3. As bookstores go , hers' excels in that her small shops' carbon footprint is just that, & a good example. 4. Her location is a plus , Piedmont Ave. 5. Now , her strike. She had to walk outside to look over my vehicle to judge if I may have been affluent enough for her standards , proving such was the fact that her offer of 9.50$ for two works of mine: Polo . Lonsdale library vol.21 A British work written by a Brigadier General , a Major General , a Lieutenant Colonel & a second Brigadier General....eh hem.... The second being Steeplechasing by Hislop, published by Dutton & Co. , original hardback, 1951.
If Bonnie wasn't so blatant in trying to size me up by my car then I may have tried to haggle , but that was strike 2 & I've learned not to let anyone get 3 on me. ?

Always full of surprises. While they are not open in traditional way during Covid you can call for pickups of things you ask if they have or see in their window. There is limited opening by appointment on weekends so call for details. I always leave with things I did not know existed like this dog fan.

The Black Swan is my home away from home and recently it has been collecting works of art,especially Asian wood blockprints and sculptures. Don"t know if I should mention this as I want them for myself.
Don"t know where she finds these treasures but they delight me and will delight you. Next to Fenton's
it is easy to find on Piedmont.
