I am not an art person but I enjoyed the experience. The place is really nice and organized. There is a parking outside and buses going back and forth to the exhibition. Upon entering we were greeted and given a clear map to the place. There was a guide located at each art piece.

The issue was the distance between the pieces. Walking was not easy because of the sand. And we were thirsty but the visitor center is really far. They should have shuttles between the pieces (buggies or golf-cars) and drink stations. We couldn’t go through everything because of the distances and heat.

So awesome!! I love finding the art amongst the desert. It's totally like a scavenger hunt of random art. I really enjoyed the unique pieces ❤️

I visited Amer, Galanin and Clottey, and Stringfellow and Sarabia, over a 3-day period. Really enjoyed it. Here are my tips:
- Go on a weekday (M-W) so there isn't a ton of traffic or other people at the various sites. Sarabia's maze requires timed entry Th-Su, but I went on a Monday morning and there was almost nobody else there.
- This is surely obvious, but go early morning or late afternoon to beat the heat, and bring a hat, sunscreen, and water. These sites are totally exposed to the sun.
- Wear closed-toed shoes appropriate for hiking to visit Sarabia's and Galanin's art, as they involve a bit of a schlep over dirt & sand. Clottey's and Amer's are on grass; Stringfellow's is on dirt that is much more packed-down than Sarabia/Galanin and only a few steps from the parking lot.
- While you're visiting Stringfellow's, take the time to walk through the nearby sculpture garden of the otherwise-permanently-closed PS Art Museum in Palm Desert. It's OK, not out-of-this-world fantastic, but it at least lets you turn that stop into a two-fer.
- There are parking lots at all of the foregoing five sites, except Sarabia, which has a well-marked set-aside stretch of curbside parking. The use of exact coordinates in the Desert X guide makes it sound like you're going to the middle of nowhere, but actually, the other four are next to regular buildings with ample parking: a visitor center, a community center, a Chamber of Commerce, and Sunnylands.
- Since Amer's is located within Sunnylands, that's the only one where you need to worry about visiting hours. The rest are out in the open and they're sunrise-to-sunset.
- Galanin's 45-foot-tall "INDIAN LAND" sign is visible from the air! If you're arriving in or departing PS by plane, and you're on the side of the plane that gives you a view of the mountains, look closely and you'll see it.

Alas, I didn't have the time to drive way out to where Kwade and Alghamdi are, or down the road with Simmons' billboards. I skipped Suter and Myers. (Baeza and Murillo are not there yet, and Judy Chicago canceled.)

There's a small amount of Desert X merch at the Windmill City Super #1 shop. It's one rack of Desert X T-shirts, pins, bags of coffee (why), etc. - not very much stuff.

A lot of driving around , traffic can get a little hectic depending at what time you go and how many people are trying to view the same things. Found the legend and descriptions a little confusing since there are no clear signs for quite a few of the "exhibits" and drove right past them multiple times. It was alright overall ?
