If I had the option to give the Ivoryton Inn 0 stars, I would, because of how I was treated.

I lived at the Ivoryton Inn for nearly two years. Under the former manager, it was well-maintained and enjoyable, but since the new manager took over, the quality has declined significantly.

The current manager is highly unprofessional, often inviting his questionable friends to stay at the inn while drinking and smoking marijuana with them in their rooms. He is confrontational, dismissive of complaints, and has reacted aggressively, such as pounding on my door late at night in a threatening manner.

I lived above his friends, who were constantly loud and disruptive, despite multiple complaints I've made. One evening, after the noise continued past 9 PM, I called the police anonymously. The manager assumed it was me, confronted me aggressively, and allowed his friends to retaliate by banging on the ceiling.

Due to the manager's unprofessionalism, threatening behavior, and the unsafe environment he created, I ultimately felt I had no choice but to leave.

Do not stay here!! 0/10 recommend.

Return trip has been beautiful so far! This town and its atmosphere are amazing this time of year. Have been noticing renovations being done around the property which is exciting to see the improvements! Aswell as a few bad apples being removed which seems to cause bad reviews, but as they say, misery loves company 🤷🏻‍♂️. Still rate the historic building and tentative staff 5 stars 😊

DO NOT MOVE HERE! After 1.5 years of terrible treatment I am now being told I will not be getting my $500 security deposit back. So let’s tell a long story. 1.5 years ago I moved into the Inn under the landlord Todd I was told the security deposit was $500. Upon moving out I was told that it was only supposed to be $300 and the BOOKS showed $300z Thank God I had my own receipts. Showing $500 paid towards the deposit over the first three weeks. Keep in mind the new owners had officially bought the place AFTER I moved in. So not only did they not see my apartment before or during when I lived there but I have a strong reason to believe they haven’t even seen it after. It’s a drowning business that loves to STEAL. From it’s tenants. The new and current landlord that they thought would be so much better than Todd likes to go get drunk with the tennants and start fights with them too. He ambushed me outside of my apartment belligerent a few nights before I decided to finally leave. Do not move here do not rent here even if you absolutely have to. They will stew your deposit for absolutely no reason

Rooms are in terrible condition. Manager is not nice at all. And way too expensive for the conditions. Would not recommend to anyone

We stayed here for 2 nights to attend a wedding in Old Lyme. Our friends, who were the parents of the groom , and their families, were staying at the Copper Beach Inn,about 1/4 a mile down the road , but had no vacancies. The Ivorytown Inn was great, and Todd , the owner or manager,was very accomodating and friendly! The room was perfect, big enough and very clean. They provided clean towels,toiletries, and gave us an iron and ironing board as soon as we asked for it. We would definitely stay there again if we're ever in the area!

I had a short stay, just for a night. Bed was big and comfy, theres a back area if you need to step out, that was nice. Soap and Towels were provided and there's a coffee machine, a Mini fridge was also provided. This was actually my first stay in an Inn ever, I settled in for the night nicely. There's a cool mill across the street, I like mills and if you like New England mill towns that's a plus. Pizza place around the corner so it's in a good place, I recommend if you need a room for the night. ☘

After booking through Booking..com I found that some of our arrangements were not sent to the property. When we arrived it took a little bit to find Todd but once I did he took over with the most pleasant and accommodating manner.. My husband is handicapped which I made Booking..Com aware of.. They told me that our room would be upgraded to help.Todd was not aware of that but quickly changed our room.to a huge just renovated handicapped room.
He also brought most of our belongings in from the car. When I needed anything it was there in a blink of an eye. We loved the quaint feel of this historic dwelling and the surrounding area. Thank you again Todd for everything

My friend and I stayed there overnight last weekend. The prices were exceptionally reasonable. There was confusion with Priceline.com that said we could check in at 12:00. When we arrived the owners are coming out and they said check in wasn't until 2:00, but they still allowed us to check in 2 hours early which was incredibly nice of them and they did not have to do that so I was very grateful. The room itself was very clean and comfortable. There was a restaurant within walking distance which was very good and downtown Essex is just a quick drive up the road. I would definitely recommend staying here and I will be planning another trip in the future.
