A hidden gem! Walk among redwoods, fantastic view of San Francisco bay area from high elevation. The botanical gardens are breathtaking, the trees are beyond description, winding shaded trails....a definite must see....

As others have noted, this place should really be open better hours.

Because it's wonderful! An expansive botanical garden with tons of different interesting sections, great paths, twists and turns, various environments, bridges, a historic house, and a nice main greenhouse/lobby center. I learned the history of the house and the gardens only through overhearing other people talk, so I wish they had actual historic information on display too.

But, despite some areas for improvement, this place is still so completely worth it. Can't be missed.

Beautiful, peaceful garden grounds. Amazing views, and plant life. Kid and dog friendly! Parking lots around the property. Pretty large hidden gem nestled in the residential community. Owned and maintained by the University of CA Regents. Not open holidays or weekends; M-F 8:30-4:30. Highly recommend. Koa fish pond, and lovely building structures. Plenty of sitting areas across the property. Small ponds and running water in wet season.

The Blake Garden is a relaxing botanical garden in Kensington filled with a large number of native species. It is maintained by the university and is primarily open during weekday business hours.

The garden is well architected with winding paths through a hilly landscape. There are several areas dedicated to certain microclimates, such as coast redwoods, Mediterranean, marshlands, fruits, vegetables, and more. There are many benches to sit and peacefully enjoy, as well as a reflection pool filled with large koi. There are views of the bay and Golden Gate Bridge.

This garden is great for families and also open to dogs.

I stumbled upon this place online, and asked my friend if she wanted to walk around there with me. She had been visiting there for decades.

A great place to: do a walking meditation; do Yoga or Tai Chi; to catch up with an old friend; or arrange to volunteer in the garden.

We went there in the beginning of November. Not so much blooming at this time of year, but each season brings its own beauty.
