Tl;dr:
Solid 4.5 star lobster roll. Order the clam fritters too

Cook kindly fried 2 clam fritters upon request so that I could have pipping hot fritters.
Lobster roll was well buttered and meat was fresh tasting. Half a star off as claw meat tasted dry - was it reheated? Bun was delicious and fluffy.

The long fry time gave the fritters a dark brown almost burnt look, but it is not! Great flavor and chew. And the craggy protrusions meant great crunch. They provide tartar sauce to pair with the fritters. Tasted house made, tangy and creamy.
Clams were sweet, fresh, slightly briny. Yummy.

So happy that I finally had some time while back in CT to grab some food from J&R! Portions are fantastic, fires are amazing. I picked up my order just as it was packaged. My only recommendation would to put the freshly friend fish on a cooling rack to drain excess oil instead of directly onto the fries. May be the case and my timing, but that’s the only complaint. The staff are friendly, in person, on the phone, and all of the food is extremely fresh and worth every penny. Will absolutely be coming back next time I’m back in town. I ordered 2 fish sandwiches, 2 orders of fish and chips, and 1 order of fried shrimp. Outstanding!

Definitely worth the trip to Mystic! I've been wanting to try the clam fritters for weeks and finally got a chance to get there on a Thursday. They did not disappoint! Served piping hot in a brown bag with lemon and fresh made tartar. The batter was fried to a perfect golden brown and the clams plentiful. I also had the Tuna Poke Bowl from the Grab and Go section. It was superb! The tuna was delicious and the veggies nice and crunchy. I will definitely go back!

Tried the clam fritters today much to my chagrin. Dark brown cakes with no clams. In fact, there was very little clam taste at all. Ordered 4, ate two halves and tossed the other 2️⃣ in my yard for the birds.
Later - did discuss experience with owner. She apologized and offered refund. Obviously, she is a good person. You can see that my experience is not what others have had, so perhaps, a bad day in the kitchen. Good Luck to J&R...

J&R catered my wedding reception this last Saturday. They hit a home run! They were punctual, professional and the presentation was incredibly well done. The details stood out and I cannot recommend them enough for any of your oyster and shrimp cocktail catering needs.

Going into the planning I had no idea what to do or where to start. My wife said “I want fresh oysters at our reception” I basically repeated this sentence to the owner Allison and she knew exactly what I needed. Her recommendations for quantity and timing couldn’t have been more spot on. There were only 3 oysters left at the time they wrapped up (I took care of those myself pretty quickly!). Thank you J&R Seafood for doing such an amazing job for us!

As a true new englander, and someone born and raised in Rhode Island I am always searching for the freshest seafood. I am 100% seafood snob, and J&R Seafood went above and beyond my expectations.

Last Friday I enjoyed their fish and chips, which was delicious, lightly battered and fried perfectly. Hand cut fries with a great seasoning on them! Clam chowder was great too, and even had bacon in it. Highly recommend.

I have also enjoyed their Spicy Tuna sushi, salmon, scallops, and shrimp! Everything is always great, next time your in town, vacationing, or a local GO SEE THEM!
