This is a quaint restaurant with welcoming customer service that makes you feel like you are family. I don’t usually eat soul food but the restaurant came highly recommended so I tried it out. I absolutely loved the greens and greens are not my favorite vegetable!! The Mac and cheese is the best blend of creamy cheesy goodness hands down! I ordered the ox tails which left little to be desired, it took some work to eat them, the meat did not fall off the bones, but they had a good flavor. The Key Lime cake was awesome!!!!! I took one bite and couldn’t stop I ate it before my meal and forgot to get a picture. The owner also made fresh baked macadamia nut cookies, so I got them while they were warm, this felt so good to eat! I can’t wait to return on a night with entertainment.

Only thing i complain about is it takes time for your order to come out because i think they cook it fresh every time. We waited approximately 1 hour to get our order for take away and its not really full of customers in there. I noticed that there are only 2 women in the kitchen and one of them is also the one taking orders and doing the cashiering. The lady did apologize to us for the inconvenience but I hope they will address and resolve this issue because an hour wait or more for the food is totally unacceptable and tend to lose customers especially if you have kids with you.

Regarding the food, honestly, its really good. The fried chicken wings is so fresh, flavorful and the breading crunchy and is not too salty. Gravy is on point. My 1 year old daughter liked the mac & cheese. My husband ordered the CheeseSteak and said it was delicious. The cornbread is too dry!

Ambiance is quite good tho but i think more lighting will be perfect. We will definitely comeback and check out other dishes in the menu, but i hope next time we won’t be a very loooongggg wait!

Came here with my wife for dinner. We both had three fried chicken wings with rice, Mac n cheese, cornbread and dressing. The food was incredible. Tasty and fresh fried chicken! All the food was tasty as well! Best dressing I've ever had! Staff was very friendly and personable. Love the atmosphere here so much. Very positive! Definitely going to come here again!

I really was hopeful for this place to be amazing as Apopka needs a decent soul food option. The woman taking my order was incredibly nice and helpful. The interior is beautifully setup and clean.
I ordered the 3 pc fried chicken but was told they were out of whole wings so they replaced with wingettes which was totally fine with me. I got collard greens and mac/ cheese as the side. Also ordered the egg rolls and strawberry cake.
Wings- fresh well fried but I would have liked more seasoning in the coating.
Collard greens- tender and okay but seemed to be missing some flavor.
Mac/ cheese - good but prefer a creamier version. It is good if you like a drier mac and cheese. Also added some black pepper.
Rice- this came with the wings and surprising lacked any flavor ..just didn't taste as flavored as white rice I've had at other soul food places. Could have did without it as it didn't add anything to the meal.
Cornbread- muffin just lacked flavor. Did not taste homemade.
Strawberry cake- delicious.

Egg rolls- were okay. The dipping sauce helped alot.
For my tastes everything just lacked seasoning and I hate saying it because i really wanted to love it. The service was so good and I love supporting a small business, so I may try them again and just try some other items on the menu but I don't think I'd get the above items again. I'm rooting for this business!

I love southern food and I love supporting local independent business owners. I had to give JLM a try. So, I took my wife there for lunch on a Friday. The man that greeted us was polite and our server was really sweet. I believe her name was Porshia. Because it was our first time, I wanted to try their gizzards as a side and not as a meal and they were quick to accommodate me. We ended up getting the fried fish, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, white rice and brown gravy. Everything was hot, fresh and well seasoned. It honestly reminded me of my late grandmothers cooking. The owner actually came out to our table and spoke to us. She was down to earth and pleasant. We plan to come here more often now. This is a business I truly wanna see do well in Apopka. They seem like really good people and they definitely serve great food.

The people working in the restaurant were absolutely lovely and very friendly. I got a catfish breakfast with eggs, cheesy grits and toast. Everything was nice and hot. The eggs and toast were perfect. The grits were extremely watery and didn’t have any flavor. The catfish was actually the worst part. It tasted very “off”. I could only eat two bites. I was worried it would make me sick. I, honestly, came looking for lunch but I was too early. I definitely want to go back to check out a lunch/dinner item because those seem super good. I’d love to come back and change my review on the food. Running a ‘mom and pop’ establishment is incredibly difficult right now and I wish nothing but the best for this new place. Get that dining room filled with people! ❤️

T-Bone Steak and meat loaf are incredible. Lima beans and potatoes are delicious. Wonderful cornbread. The community service of the owner and employees, serving the unhoused could not be more superior.

The food was incredible! Soul food that’ll make you happy dance! The price point is accessible and given the serving size, I will happily be back!! I had the fried chicken, Mac and cheese, yams, and corn bread with rice. Everything was on point and the sweet tea was perfect and refreshing.
Everyone at my table got something different so I was able to try the oxtail, turkey wing, dressing and potato salad as well. My favorite had to have been the oxtail, but it was all hits, no misses. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu!
