Came for a winter Sunday midday dessert with my family, and it was cozy and sweet. The desserts and coffee were all delicious. The space is unmatched. The historical interior is something that cannot be replicated. You must go simply to be in a space that will inspire and delight.

A really beautiful historical restaurant that's over 100 years old. French cuisine was available, though this morning's menu was not the same brunch menu as listed online, maybe we needed to special request brunch instead of lunch?

Service was absolutely amazing. Our server listened to my love of sweeter coffee and took it upon herself to serve my cappuccino with extra sugar cubes as an assisted service.

The food was delightful. We weren't too adventurous into the French cuisine since it was early morning still, but my onion soup was a delightful balance of all the ingredients. It was packed with flavor without feeling overall too salty like so many onion soups lean.

The haricots verts were buttery and very well seasoned, and my husband's green salad that came with his omelette had a lovely light and well seasoned dressing perfect for a morning meal.

The building is gorgeous even when it shows some wear from age like the du pont itself, with so much sculpted detail and a beautiful bar area.

We enjoyed a impromptu Saturday brunch here today. All 6 of us enjoyed our appetizers and meals. Service was phenomenal and the drinks were delicious. Molly our server, was very good. Lovely ambiance in this beautiful hotel. No complaints at all.

It was our second time in the restaurant, and again we end up disappointed. First time, it was the quality of our meal. This time, our meals were better, but still sub-par. (Tip to your chef: Don't serve steak PRE-sliced if it doesn't rest for 5-10 minutes. It gets cold and dries out. That's cooking 101). Neither my wife or I could finish our entrees, so we had the leftovers boxed up. Imagine the disappointment when we opened the leftovers the next day and instead of fries and half a cheeseburger, there's some sort of cubed beef with brown sauce and chopped vegetables? How does a restaurant give a customer the WRONG leftovers?! $300+ on a mediocre dinner and we don't even get the right food boxed up. It's fair to say we won't be making a 3rd trip. The Green Room, while dated and in need of some CPR, at least had a high service level from beginning to end. At least the tartare and French Onion were decent.

Delightful surprise brunch from my daughter at Le Cav. We started with a refreshing, yet subtly decadent Chambord Mimosa, recommended by our server Laura. We were impressed with the prompt arrival of our appetizers, Foie Gras on a succulent French Toast profiterole and mouth-pleasing deviled eggs with radicchio. Our mains were Rabbit Ragout Pasta which was a hearty plate and the extra large Crabcake with Green Goddess over lentils. The only slightly disappointing aspect was our dessert. We shared an order of Madeleines which the menu described as being topped with candied pecans. It arrived with raw walnuts. For those with slight tree nut allergies, candied pecans are heated, which minimizes the allergens of pecans. The raw walnuts were a poor substitute. We simply removed them. The lobby and front cocktail bars were lovely and reminiscent of earlier times. The architecture, interior design, and attention to details were not lost on us. It was not crowded at all and Laura made sure we were completely satisfied.
I truly look forward to visiting again soon.

Beautiful restaurant with amazing ambiance. The service was excellent. Our waiter was very nice and knowledgeable. The food was very good, as well. The only reason they didn't get 5 stars from me is because everything is overpriced. We spent a lot of money here, and if it weren't for the bread basket, we would have left a little bit hungry. It's a great place to go for a special occasion, but not for a regular date night dinner.

Very nice experience!
We came here during the Christmas Eve afternoon.
An iconic hotel and this restaurant as a part of it.
A very rich history of this hotel, which was built in 1913, a lot of celebraties were here.
I've heard that Grace Kelly was proposed in this hotel.
The food was great, service as well (Jacky), and the guy at the front desk (Jack) left a very nice impression.
Music was not loud, clean space, superb restrooms.
There is a beutiful atmosphere and ambient at Le Cavalier.
We will come back!

Le Cavalier is located in the heart of downtown Wilmington in the lobby of the Hotel Du Pont. The bar & restaurant decor is ravishing, one of the best I’ve ever seen. I stopped in for some hors d’oeuvres and ordered the provencal hummus, and fromage & saucisson (cheese board) both were excellent. I would also recommend the onion soup, the cheese had the perfect texture and all around very flavorful. Bartender was skilled and very friendly.
