I just want to give a huge thank you to Karl Heileman, the pharmacist at the Putnam Price Chopper. Twice now over the past few months I have been in a bind concerning our prescriptions, and he has gone above and beyond to help us out. The ultimate in kind, professional courtesy. And friendly to boot! You have a top notch employee in him!

This is a pretty good grocery store right in downtown Putnam. The produce selection has always been great, a good selection of other groceries, and the bakery always has some nice options. I will say that to me this seems like the most expensive grocery store in town - I also shop at Stop & Shop and the big evil W-store for my groceries, and Price Chopper comes out a good couple percentage points higher for the same types of foods. I guess it could depend on what you get, or if you're shopping the sales. I do appreciate that they don't use the digital coupons like Stop & Shop.

The staff here has always been helpful too. So if you need groceries, really not a bad place.

Bathroom doesn't look as disgusting as the webster price chopper but i was definitely in the bathroom when about 10 kids ran out of the handicapped stall

I go to walk out the store RECEIPT in hand and halfway through the second door to exit the store I get stopped by PC employee who demanded I let go of the carriage and leave, I respond but I’ve paid for it and went to try to hand the gentleman my receipt which was still in my hand and he flat out told me I was lying and to leave the store. So I go to walk away and was going to return with with my lawyer present physically or at least on the phone and most likely an officer and as I’m about to turn around the corner the employee then loudly then says “well show me your receipt” and I continued walking and said “No I’ll be back” and he said loudly “yeah that’s what I thought”…let me remind you I had already attempted to show him my receipt and he refused but after I’m almost around the corner and for other customers to hear that’s when he tries to have me show him my receipt to make it look like I had tried to steal from the store and embarrassed me. That gentleman would lose his job and best believe I have contacted my lawyer. If I didn’t have my receipt in my hand and didn’t IMMEDIATELY after being stopped attempt to prove I paid for all items in my cart then I would totally understand being stopped and accused of theft but I didn’t steal a single item in my cart and was called a liar and wouldn’t allow me to show proof until AFTER I’ve walked a good distance from him and other customers were able to hear. I will never ever shop there again and I most definitely will be doing whatever legal action I’m able to do against this employee and hopefully the company trains their staff better to avoid this happening to another innocent individual in the future

I haven't lived in this area for long, but this Price Chopper is 100% the best grocery store in New England. The service here is amazing and the quality of the products I buy are great! Whenever I am in the produce department, there is always someone who comes up to me and asks if I am finding everything okay. The produce is always fresh and well maintained. I am always amazed at the selection of items throughout the store. I can't seem to find as much in other stores in the area.
Words could never describe how helpful and kind the front end employees are. I'm not great at using the self-checkout because I find it a little complicated, but the people running self-checkout are always extremely friendly and help me through the process.
There is one employee in particular that really WOWs me at the register. He has light red/blonde hair and is usually wearing a black shirt. I think his name begins with an "I" but I'm not sure. this employee always greets me and asks if I have found everything I was looking for. It means a lot when someone goes out of their way to help you in the best way possible and really put a smile on your face. I've also noticed how big of a help he is to other employees. He will stop whatever he's doing to help his coworkers and make sure their customers are happy and satisfied. I know that working in a grocery store can get stressful, but he always has a smile on his face. His positive and friendly character makes shopping here a genuinely great experience and I look forward to many more shopping trips to come.
