I normally shop at the Proctor Ace on A1A, which is much closer. I thought they had a great garden center. I had to meet a friend at the Winn Dixie Plaza where this Proctor Ace is located. I thought I'd check out the garden center. I have lived in Jacksonville for over 8 years, and I am an avid gardener. I have been to every garden center and nursery multiple times, and this puts them all to shame. I bought 4 plants I have been looking for for ages. This will be my go-to garden center from now on. If you want something different and unusual in addition to the popular plants, this is the place

This place does not care about their employees. I send in a report complaining about a Specific manager, who still to this day works there. JOE needs to go. He is toxic!!! I was in there yesterday purchasing some items, and over heard him YELLING at employees in front of a customer they were trying to help. Even over heard the customer state that he didn't need to handle the situation that way. This man has a terrible work ethic, and someone needs to take action before it gets even worse! How can you let someone manage your store, that degrades and belittles employees
I typed up a note about this specific situation, EVEN brought it to a Proctor themselves… NOT A THING WAS DONE! If the Proctors cared about their store, they would take action so resolve these unnecessary issues!! Do better!!!

Edit to response: Reach out to the store?! Who exactly would I need to ask for?! Because I’ve made a report regarding this, and clearly this matter hasn’t been handled, or maybe someone would have reached out to ME. I’ve done my part, now it’s your turn.

I came here on a Saturday night around 7. I was looking for trees so I went in the back (it’s actually outside) looking at the different trees that were out there. While I was out there (it was still light), the employees shut the door on me. The way the handle is positioned made it seem like you had to pull the door up to get back inside. When I did so, it didn’t open so I thought I was locked out. I couldn’t find anyone back there, so I had to call my husband and he had to get our son out of the car seat and come inside to help me. He was able to get the door open from the other side, but I do think that before you guys start closing the doors you should make sure no one is out there. When I came inside, I waited a really long time in the checkout. There were 3 guys (employees) just standing in a circle talking, 1 stocking the fridge, and 1 at the cash register with a long line. Because of this, she was not in a good mood. She was a little rude but I think it was because she was having to run the register and answer calls by herself. She kept asking for help and no one came. My plant did not have a price so I asked her if she could tell me the price and she just said “I cannot tell you the price”. I was so confused and she kind of acted like she couldn’t help me and I wouldn’t be able to check out. She said garden may be closed but it was like 20 mins before closing. She did after that offer to call someone over from the garden center, but it took him a long time to come. She had to page for them multiple times. Someone called and she said “ugh we close in 10 mins why are you calling”, picked the phone up, and hung up on them. She didn’t say that to the person on the phone but I don’t think it’s the most professional thing to say with customers around. I also am not sure why phone calls are prioritized over customers who have already been waiting in line as she did stop a few times to talk with others who called. Overall, I really liked the selection but customer service was severely lacking.

I visit this store frequently and have spent over $10,000 in it over the past year and have always had a decent experience but this weekend I was approached by a tall, gray-haired manager in a very aggressive mannor because of my parking. I had a truck and trailer and had to park up front for a short time, in order to go in and get one item. My truck carries thousands of dollars worth of tools and will not fit in even two spaces together. I left plenty of room for cars to get by and as I was going to the register he approached me very aggressively and I did not like his attitude at all. So I will not be visiting this establishment ever again. I will choose to go to the other Ace hardware on the other side of the bridge, who happens to be the same owner. As a business owner this will cost me time and money but I'd rather deal with that than deal with someone so unprofessional.

Their plant section is amazing. I could spend hours looking at everything. Some of the prices are a little high, but I did find a couple of house plants that were reasonably priced.

Most of the staff were sitting around, chewing various things, looking at me like, "Please don't notice me." When someone finally decided to help me, they couldn't tell a #6 screw from a #8 screw; couldn't find a normal wood screw and offered me stainless steel for 60% more; and then couldn't find an achor to fit the screws (if they even stock a 6x1" anchor. Won't be back here unless it's the only store with stock left after the zombie apocalypse.
