I bought some trimmer line here. It wasn't scanning & the guy at the register said $40.00 - I thought it was expensive ... but I needed it. I checked the price later - $20 but the guy charged me $40! There's thieves working the register!! Yeah, I kept my receipt.

The guy who did this followed my wife and I around the store like we were criminals too!! WTH?

When theft was on his own mind, no wonder he was thinking we were out to steal from the place.

I have had nothing but great experiences here. Maybe some people are negative because they come in with bad attitudes, or feel entitled to abuse the staff. (That could be the only reason they write such horrible reviews!)

Came in to get some stuff and the young guys approached me and helped to the best of their ability. Some old guy (possibly owner) came over with by far the worst attitude not only towards his employee but me as well in front of other customers. I support small businesses, but after this experience, ace hardware is where I’ll be going.

Normally my experience with true value is pleasant. Today on June the 12th 2018 it wasn't pleasant at all. I ask a front end clerk (who I think is the manager) where a specific item was and he points me toward the item which was downstairs.. I then bring the item back upstairs and I notice that the item rings up for a dollar more than it actually was. I let the guy know that the price was a dollar more than what was on the tag downstairs. He says, it had have been in the wrong place. I then told him that I'm pretty sure that the tag was in front of the rights item and let's go downstairs and check. We went downstairs to the basement where the item was and sure enough the item was behind the correct tag which rung up a dollar more. Along with being rude,the guy then rips the tag off of the shelf and says this item is 4.99 not 3.99.

If this place had good customer service they would have allowed me to get the item for what the tag had on it.

I will not recommend this place to anyone!

Will NEVER go back the clown at the counter was a total JERK. Understandably the glass I had could not be cut not a problem. He acted as if my being there was annoying to him. Later I found a piece that could be cut. Did I drive the less than a mile to go back to Shoprite Hardware. HELL NO. I drove to West Hartford 8 miles away to Capitol Glass. Woman at the counter gave me a warm smile and greeting. The price was great even left a tip. Will I ever go back to Shoprite Hardware Silas Deane Hwy Wethersfield. NEVERRRRRRRRRRRR.

Kind of expensive compared to HD or Lowe's, but the location saves time, gas, and effort. Staff is friendly, helpful, and the store usually has what I am looking for. Small and congested, with a stairway to a lower level, wheelchair bound patrons should probably just ask staff for help rather than trying to navigate the store themselves.

Third time in. Gave it 3 times only because it’s a small neighborhood store and wanted to shop local. Each time a bad experience which takes away the convenience factor of it being close by. Workers stand behind the desk and chat instead of helping anyone. If you do get help the guy moves on to another customer and forgets your question. Rather wait in a longer line and get what I need. Will not return. Ever.

Friendliest hardware store around, and prices are competitive. You really don't spend much more shopping here vs the big box stores. Definitely giving this small business as much patronage as I can as the service and convenience of getting in and out quickly are great
