I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Lodge at Historic Lewes, and it was an outstanding experience! From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere was inviting and warm. The staff was not just amicable but also incredibly attentive, ensuring every need was met and their clients felt cared for.

The atmosphere exceeded my expectations. The attention to detail, such as digital calendars with daily reviews of the day's activities, stood out; you can tell that much care goes into their work.

I also appreciated the overall cleanliness and organization of the space, which added to the positive experience.

I highly recommend The Lodge at Historic Lewes to anyone looking for a retirement community. You can be confident that you will have a positive experience here.

As a professional in the healthcare field; I am incredibly disgusted by the treatment that was provided to my father at The Lodge. The mismanagement of his medications, the falsification of documents, and the neglect for his well-being during heightened times of distress were appalling. The facility falsely reported their ability to care for individuals suffering from Alzheimer's and Dementia and neglected to share their lack of training and abilities to handle such patients until they were in the process of evicting my father due to their own short-comings. The Director of Nursing openly admitted that her staff is not trained for that level of care, they do not offer emergency protocols regarding medication management needs, and displayed all levels of un-professionalism when speaking to both myself and my family.
My father has since been transported to another facility and has had zero issues due to their compassion, kindness, and overall knowledge in the field. The Lodge is a beautiful place to look at (allowance of a 1 star rating solely due to this) and the newness of the facility is sure to draw you in; however please do not send your loved ones here if you are seeking proper Memory Care. The facility is ill-equipped, lacks empathy, and overall very uneducated regarding proper care to those suffering from such tragic disorders.

I have lived at the Lodge for over one year and it’s been a fantastic experience. Brett, the director of recreations and events, makes sure you are never bored unless you want to be. Live music multiple times per week, game nights, nightly movies, sock hops, religious services, off-site excursions, casino trips, historical trips and the list goes on. All holidays and special occasions are fully embraced. Beautiful amenities including a game room, fitness room, salon, bar/pub, and a fantastic on site dog park. The staff is local, friendly and extremely accommodating. I can’t recommend the Lodge enough.

My father was at The Lodge at The Historic Lewes for 7 months first at the assisted living and then in memory care.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place.
When you walk into the facility it is bright and clean.
I was always greeted with a big smile and hello from the receptionists. Sheila and Robin were the regulars and always started my visit on a positive note.
The staff who took care of my father were absolutely fantastic. Warm, caring, patient and professional.
Debbie was in charge of the dining room and food. She was always accommodating when my father needed a special diet. I ate there many times. The food was like eating at a good restaurant.
I want to thank Nichole, Melissa, Joanna, Reshell, Pam, Miesha and the entire staff for the excellent care they gave my father.
The staff at The Lodge at Historic Lewes made a difficult situation easier.
You cared for my dad during his final days and let him live with dignity. I will always be grateful for everything you did for him!!
Thank you!!

The Lodge is beautifully appointed, welcoming and a cheerful place to call home. My mother has recently arrived and everything about this community has exceeded her expectations and mine. The staff is phenomenal and goes the extra mile to provide exceptional service to the residents. The personnel clearly love their work, and it is evident in all of their interactions. I live close by and have had the opportunity to regularly dine with my mother, and the food is great and presented in a beautiful restaurant setting with highly attentive servers. The apartments are well appointed, spacious, and have very high ceilings. The common areas are kept meticulously clean. There are an endless number of opportunities for engagement that are dynamic and creative, lead by an activities director who works tirelessly to foster participation. My children beg me to bring them over to see "Gaga" for dinner and to play games with her. They love the food and recreational options, and I think they want to move in. Any senior who is living in or moving to Southern Delaware would be fortunate to make a home for themselves at The Lodge in Lewes.

I am truly appalled at the complete lack of professionalism at this facility. But most importantly, I am absolutely disgusted at the lack of dignified care provided to our family member. Staff members at The Lodge will claim that they value transparency, compassionate care, and collaboration, but this is all just lip service that was never backed by action that supports that claim. Please save yourself the heartache and headache of having to watch your loved one suffer at the hands of those whose job it is to care for them.

We recently moved my father in law from assisted living in NC to The Lodge so he would be closer to family. We have had a great experience from the tour to their flexibility in orienting him (had to bring him over the holiday weekend and the unknown timing of more than a 10 hour drive). They were accommodating and he had a positive experience. In the short time he has been there he has fallen and needed to call someone at 1am and they were right there for him. He has been disoriented in the morning with unfamiliar surroundings and again they have been caring and helpful to him. We love that someone (so far I've met Amy who is fabulous) stops by his apartment to get him for the meals and walks him to the restaurant. They have introduced him to other residents and have been very encouraging of him to join exercise classes and other activities. Much more hands on and interactive than his last place. In his last place they kept Covid rules and did not allow family to eat in the restaurant and I love that we can join him for meals instead of taking him out every time. Very nice restaurant with lots of light. The food is good and the staff super friendly and always use his name, which seems small but meant a lot to him that they remembered him from meal to meal . So far we have enjoyed meeting many of the staff and have had a very positive experience. I have seen other reviews about the traffic in the area but as locals we just learn what hours are best to go back and forth during the various seasons and school and hospital shift changes. The pluses and minuses of living in the area have to be weighed but we love our experience so far.

HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT. THEY DO NOT CARE.

First time I went in was impressed by the look, scale and cleaniness of the facility. I thought of it as a great place I could work, make a difference and thought it all went smoothly. Got through the interview, and the application process, went through fingerprinting and medical backgrouns finally set to establish as a caregiver here. However before starting I had an emotional loss and death in the family and was stuck half way across the country and was not able to meet their forced deadline. I pleaded and needed this kind of work and wanted to stay permanant but after all the hoops of getting ready they did not care and just threw me out on the street and dumped my application out with just a "Sorry" and no call back or response by email. Just easily disposed. Not caring that it basically left me without work. A loved one just died! It's ironic a place that takes care of the elderly and those in their caring last days did not care about my family member in this situation. And thanks to this company as I had my mindset here left me struggling. It is not right for what they did to me, heartless. They can say whatever they want to respond or not respond to treatment but I deserved better and had my heart willing, spoken with true sincerity. I love the care of others and in return they did not take care of me.
