We decided to get an Airbnb in Washington DC for a world convention and we found this great little spot at the Shaw. The pictures looked phenomenal. When you walk inside the building, it’s extravagant and new you walk into your apartment and it’s something out of a showroom. The problem is out front,there are homeless people and drug dealers. It was kind of it was kind of intimidating walking through the neighborhood. It was a really nice place though.

The Shaw is a wonderful place to live! Close to a lot of great restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, and more. The Shaw is clean, modern, and the staff do a great job at creating a sense of community within the building by hosting community outings and events. Saxon is always attentive and a great Property Manager! The front staff also has the outgoing and sweet Miss Nikki, the stylish and amazing Howard, Faustina who is really one of the most joyous people I’ve ever met and Knox who always has a great piece of advice. I really enjoy my time living at The Shaw and recommend it to anyone interested in the area

The Shaw is a great place to live. Its built like a boutique condo building, so each unit has luxury finishes. The parking garage is located in the building, however, it is within walking distance from tons of bars, restaurants, and the metro. Our leasing agent, Saxon, was instrumental in making the move-in process as seamless as possible. I've lived here for nearly a year, and he continues to go above and beyond for each resident. Our property manager, Howard, helps organize monthly events in the penthouse of the building for all residents. I can't recommend the Shaw highly enough.

I have to say this is one of the best buildings I’ve ever rented from in DC. To start, working with my leasing Agent Saxon was nothing like I've ever experienced. He was kind, communicative, and extremely hospitable on moving day. I was moving from California and any request I had he was on it. I highly recommend working with him. My apartment is beautiful and while there’s no gym or pool in this building, the luxury appliances and finishes stand out. I feel like I’m in my own boutique condo. The building is walking distance to a lot of restaurants, bars, and public transit. A true perk is that the building is dog friendly but still very quiet, you rarely hear other dogs in the building. I highly recommend renting here, I promise it will be worth it.

I lived here for a whole year. Several issues with this place.
1. Notice that a huge influx of 5 star reviews were posted around the same time over a year ago. These were 100% bribed
2. Every review that mentions the property manager Yolanda is accurate. She is an absolute pain to deal with and impossible to get ahold of when you need her and will ghost you when she feels like it. I had an issue with my oven from when I first moved in that never got fixed because of her.
3. This property is "new" but it was so poorly built. I was the second person to ever live in my unit, and things were constantly falling apart. Floor boards were coming out of the floor, doors coming off their hinges, cabinets peeling.
4. There is a large homeless community across the street, and also a large number of people who loiter. I never felt "unsafe", but there were definitely times I was uncomfortable.
5. Management has turned several units in the building into AirBnB rentals, so you constantly have new/random people in and out of the building

This place is the epitome of poorly done gentrification. Save yourself the money and headache and go elsewhere.

This is a great building in a fantastic location but what I feel sets it apart from the other luxury apartments in the area is the management. Saxon, in particular, is a wonderful person who goes above and beyond for the residents and the building. He is a welcome sight every time I walk in the main doors and is always kind, helpful, and fun to chat with. Overall, he is a true asset for The Shaw and a big part of why I enjoy living here.

Couldn't have asked for a better experience in finding an apartment. We were on a short time frame, and Saxon made it happen! He was beyond welcoming and willing to show us any & all floor plans. He seems like he genuinely enjoys his job, which made the experience even better. In living here for over a month, I can say the entire team here feels the same way and wants to create a great experience for the tenants. Definitely recommend!

The Shaw is a wonderful community! The building is small, so you don't have the noise associated with larger complexes. Also, every resident has a package locker, so package theft doesn't seem to be an issue. The property management and staff are very friendly and do a great job creating opportunities for residents to meet one another. For example, they organized a candle-making class before the holidays, and this weekend, they organized a beer tasting at the brewery next door. And you cannot beat the location; we're within walking distance to many great bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and dog parks.
