The Governors house was really cute! Aesthetically pleasing, the garden was really well kept. The ionic columns were recently painted and looked a brilliant white!

A police officer was on site, telling us where to park. Great person and very kind.

Unfortunately the inside was closed at the time of our visit

When I was a teen, kids in the neighborhood stopped trick or treating all of a sudden. Later I found out they were all going to the Governor's house, Woodburn for trick or treating instead of door to door. Present day with my family, I thought it would be a great idea to see what all the hype was about and I never went there before. There was a guy at the gate to get a couple pieces of candy then past the security we go inside meet the govenor who is dressed up in costume passing out candy to my kids and we are having a friendly conversation while a few other people with the govenor are also dressed up looking on. They let us look with our eyes at the 2 rooms available as we were guided outdoors. There was a fountain that we could see in distance but we were told we could not go near it and that was all they had planned. Meeting the govenor was nice but it was disappointing that there was not much to it. Makes us wish we went door to door like the old days. We did end up at a trunk or treat and filled the buckets to the brim.

I e-mailed twice inquiring about a tour. No response. I show up in person during the posted open hours and it's closed up. 3 employees outside completely ignored me. Very disappointing. The gardens are lovely, though.

Just another part of Delaware where they take something historical and then turn it into a tourist attraction to siphon money just to teach you your own history
again they siphon money just to teach you your own history it's very pathetic and it's a current thing in Delaware

if an outside party is reading this that has money please Sue Delaware for the ignorance they convey on the residents

The most interesting thing about the Governor's Mansion is the fact that it is so accessible! If the governor is not present, you can walk by the house and in the governor's gardens. The perks to living in such a small state.

The mansion itself is in Georgian style, and it is so inconspicuous that unless there was a sign that said "Governor's Mansion," you would probably just assume that it was a cool old house. The Mansion is on the National Register of Historic Places, so drive by, snap a picture, and see if you can stroll by the gardens.
