My friends and I love this place. We always stop through at least once when we are in town. Drinks are creative and the menu changes quite a bit to keep things interesting. Staff are friendly as well and willing to offer suggestions.

Came in with the fam. Good cocktails. Nice place. But, bartender behavior was borderline sociopathic and in a high trust society it's remiss not to warn others. So, come in at your own peril and stick to the menu where things are transparently priced. 😉

Where do I even start with Wood’s? This very well might be the best cocktail bar in the United States. This is not an exaggeration, yes, Ive been to death and co, yes I’ve drank in DC, Manhattan, Boston, New Orleans, etc. I have a fairly refined palette and the liquor that the distiller distills is fantastic. The cocktails that the wonderful women made us in the front of house were out of this world. The pairings of sweet and savory, smoky and rich, and herbaceous and floral are incomprehensible until you experience them. Please do your taste buds a favor and embark upon the sensational flavor pilgrimage that is Wood’s Distillery. This is Colorado and Salida at their finest.

If you are in Salida, don't miss this incredible gem! The atmosphere and decor are funky and charming; the bartenders are gifted, incredibly personable and just plain fun to hang out around; and the gin is absolutely amazing and unique. You can choose a flight to sample a variety of their offerings or a creative craft cocktail that highlights their spirits.

We might have just caught the distillery on a bad day, but we had a really unpleasant experience at Wood’s High Mountain Distillery.

There was just one couple behind us in line, but the bartender was completely focused on moving through the line and unwilling to help, provide recommendations, or answer questions. When I asked the best whiskey to include in a flight, i was given a point to the whiskey bottles on the wall with a “you pick, hurry up”- and after taking a minute to read, we were asked to step aside since we weren’t moving fast enough.

Felt like rushed, stressed vibes in a New York deli, not a higher end tasting room in the mountains.

The spirits themselves were mostly good, as were the cocktails, but the atmosphere felt exclusive, rushed, and cold. The service seemed to be primarily frustrated with customers. We thought it might just be us, but everyone else in the tasting room was receiving the same gruff, frustrated, and annoyed service.

Even when we asked where we should leave our glasses so they didn’t have to bus our table, we were met with exasperation and frustration.

The general atmosphere honestly felt incongruous with the rest of Salida, and just wasn’t a welcoming, inviting, or comfortable place for a drink.

Best distillery tour I've ever been on. Ask Beck, the Head Distiller, for a nice personal tour. He is amazing and very knowledgeable. Met PT Wood during the tour, and you can tell everyone is compassionate about the distillery products they artistically create.
Some of the best bourbon and rye whiskey and barrel Gin I've tried. Vodka is good, too. What a great find!! Enjoy! Blessings.

1yr later update (2023). I was finally able to purchase the Alpine Rye that I sampled last year. It's absolutely an amazing rye for $55. I also got the Alpine Rye Reserve, and it is even better. It's so smooth with so many flavor notes. A great sipper!! Fantastic distillery that you need to try. One of my favorites.
